COMMUNITY YOUTH MEDIA: – #bleibistan exhibit

Over the course of 6 weeks in the summer of 2017, Newsgroup Afghanistan's youth media collective researched and documented the highly politicized asylum rejections that Afghan refugees are facing in Germany. Analyzing and deconstructing asylum hearing transcripts and denial notices, we developed a journalistic and artistic approach to counter the current climate of fear and intimidation through images and text-based interventions. 

Mixed media: photography, collage and calligraphy. 

#Bleibistan has been shown in 15 different venues and locations so far, from Munich to Hamburg, community spaces, conferences and arts festivals. 

In cooperation with YAAR Afghan Diaspora Community organization, Café Y not program for young adults and Ulme35 intercultural center.
