Well Beyond HIV in NYC
Home run… The Graying of AIDS project’s Well Beyond HIV exhibit opened in NYC, capping quite a year for the traveling installation we produced for Walgreens. Now on to next things, after toasting new friends in person and larger than life size.
Thanks to POZ Magazine and Walgreens for hosting! Here’s a video and many more pics from the evening.
Berlin – sad sack subway series
Because, why not. BVG, my second home in late October, while working on a reportage in my old haunts. And I love the new hipstamatic panorama setting…
Brigitte Magazine – dis/approving Flibanserin
For German women’s magazine Brigitte, I traveled with correspondent Annett Heide to capture the mood of what seemed to be a final stand of America’s 1970s generation of feminist fighters: for female libido – against the medicalization of lust – against condescending double standards at the FDA – anti any normative ideas of female desire. Whiplash inducing… As fun as a portrait series of talking heads experts can be to shoot, because, just super interesting. Some assignments are for the pictures, and others for listening and thinking.
POZ Magazine features The Graying of AIDS
Thrilled to get this nice recap out to audiences in September! Onward and upward with this project – and grateful for the succinct explanation of all the different things we’ve been busy with over the last couple of years! Here’s the on-line version.
Rear Window – Flatbush edition
German magazine My Way is featuring a series of women living in places all over the world – and their musings on the various views out their windows. Apologies to my not shabby at all living room view for not making the cut!

Well Beyond HIV – San Francisco
Next stop on the Walgreens / Graying of AIDS exhibit tour was San Francisco for one weekend in April, and below is a quick news round-up:
- Local news station KTVU interviews exhibit participants Greg and Sylvia.
- Some more background info via the San Francisco Chronicle.
- And a summation of the exhibition project by HIV Plus Magazine.
More news to follow, as this project continues….
Winnie’s Bar – a short fugue in Jameson minor
This week saw the demise of Winnie’s Bar in Chinatown, and the usual NYC blogs have been abuzz with a call to arms to “Save New York” and strengthen small businesses; to halt encroaching gentrification across too many of our neighborhoods, as one by one local places with decades of history are replaced by yet another chain restaurant or bank or pharmacy. Like, how many more Seven Elevens and Duane Reades – or bubble tea emporiums or hip fusion restaurants – does this city need?
